Ashaninka

The Ashaninka tribe today is on the edge of western industrial civilisation.  There are still some Ashaninka communities where the way of life has changed little in the last 600 years. Yet as the world around them changes, so too does the desire and pressure to obtain more consumer goods.

There are obvious ways to make money to pay for these goods, for example illegal logging and the illicit coca trade for cocaine. This devastation has deep repercussions not only for the Ashaninka but for the planet too.

The forest farmers have asked for help.

The Ashaninka need alternative and sustainable ways of making money. We are dedicated to collaborating with indigenous peoples in a way that provides them with an income from sustainable cacao production. This will support their culture and autonomy as well as territorial and environmental integrity

The Chocolate Harlot Parlour is proud to support Ecotribal in their aim for fair and sustainable trade so that we can lovingly enjoy our favourite treat...chocolate!
